I was overweight, unhealthy and unhappy, I was heavier than I had ever been, heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant with my then 7 year old son! I knew it was time to change, but I didn't know HOW.
My self esteem was at an all time low, my marriage was falling apart, I wasn't handling stress in healthy ways, I was using food to soothe my emotions, and then hating myself for eating
And then Jamie (my husband) sent me a text, telling me he just bought an at home workout program, and I could do it with him if I wanted. I GRABBED onto that opportunity like the life line it was! .... I cried my way through my first workout, completely disgusted with myself for how far I'd let myself go.... chronic fatigue, arthritis, grumpiness, it was time to change.
Over time, in 30 mins a day, I found myself, I uncovered the person I wanted to become. I reconnected with my husband, and was able to be active with my son.
I learned how to feed myself properly. To fuel my body with healthy options. I lost 45lbs and gained energy I didn't know was possible. I sleep at night! I wake up excited for what the day will bring.
Now I help others on the path to health and wellness, over coming obsticals they face, and reach goals they thought impossible.

You probably would think that my story starts when I was involved in boxing, and became a professional fighter, but the truth is, my story starts when I retired from boxing.
I boxed for 20+ years, and yes, I was thin, and in the best shape of my life, but I knew nothing about proper nutrition or how to keep my mental health stable. All I knew about was training my guts out for hours and hours a day (which resulted in me seeing my family for minutes a day), and eating just enough to fuel my body. I could write a book on unhealthy ways to cut weight, or even worse ways to deal with depression and mental illness.
My story starts when I retired from boxing, because that is when I learnt how to deal with everything.
When I was no longer able to rely on the intense multi-hour workouts to stay thin, I quickly packed on the weight. When I didn't go to the gym anymore, I didn't know what to do for workouts, and had even less motivation to do them. When I didn't have the High of the fight, I searched out unhealthy ways to replace it. When I didn't have the brotherly friendship of a the boxing club I felt totally alone.
I spiraled downhill for a couple of years, because it came to a point that I knew something HUGE had to change in my life. I had a choice, I could continue on the path I was on, drinking my evenings away, sitting in an unhappy marriage, and gritting my teeth just to get through the day without totally losing it, OR, I could make a change, figure out a way to put the pieces of my life back together.
A funny thing happened when I did that, not only did I learn how to eat properly to fuel my body, I learned that I didn't need hours in a gym to get results, I needed 30 minutes a day at home. Even more so than that, I got my family back. My wife and I reconnected through our workouts, and getting healthy together. We sat down and meal planned, we TALKED to each other, we encouraged each other, we worked TOGETHER to better ourselves, and improve our marriage. I actually had the energy to play with my son, and the patience to want to do it. I no longer grit my teeth to get through the day.
In reclaiming my health, I got my life back.
